OSI: Servicio AntiBotnet - Protect Your Internet Connection

OSI: Servicio AntiBotnet is a browser plugin developed by INCIBE as an add-on for Google Chrome. This plugin provides a service that notifies users about threats related to botnets that may be occurring from their internet connection.

Once installed, the plugin periodically runs the checking service offered by the Office of the Internet User Security (OSI). This service checks the user's public IP address against the Antibotnet Service's database to identify risks or cybersecurity incidents related to compromised computer networks, botnets, or other threats. It does this automatically and silently, checking the IP address every 15, 30, or 60 minutes, depending on the user's preferences.

When a positive result is detected, the plugin's icon will flash, and a notification message will be displayed. By clicking on the plugin's icon, users can access information about the identified problem, as well as helpful tips to identify the affected device on their network and links to disinfection tools or methods to remove malware.

One of the advantages of using this plugin is that users don't need to visit the OSI website to check if their public IP address is registered in the Antibotnet Service's database. The plugin provides permanent and automatic information about any identified problems. Additionally, users can access a history of positive detections through the plugin's historical page.

By installing this plugin, users agree to the terms of service of the Antibotnet Service. This plugin is part of the collaboration project between the National Institute of Cybersecurity (INCIBE) and the Office of the Internet User Security (OSI). The Antibotnet Service aims to provide information and tools to help users disinfect devices affected by cybersecurity incidents, contributing to a more reliable and secure internet for everyone.
